Guys & Girls,
Had to revert back to 7.5 and thank God for Time Machine, I was able to get back the drawings that 7.6 hosed on me. As you look at the list below, I'm sure the first thought will be not enough memory or computer. To clear that up right now, I'm running a MacPro with 4 gig of ram, and only CD7.5 and Mac mail open, the OS is Leopard 10.5.2. Should be no issues with ram or processor power. If there is, then I'm frightened about what this program will do on lesser machines.
There has got to be a fix made quickly for the following issues:
1. The fonts changing spacing and size from CD 7.5 and previous to CD 7.6 this caused ALL of my drawings to become unusable. I had to downgrade to 7.5 and reload my backups.
2. The drawing tools don't "take" the first time I click on them, the button on the tool bar highlights but the tool hasn't changed. Sometimes I have to go back and click on a tool two or three times to get it to change. The time and frustration this causes are really making me spend too much time drawing, and not enough time creating. Not to mention not fully trusting the program.
3. Line colors and weights, sometimes I just can't get a line to change colors, I was going through a drawing changing line colors and did 10 in a row then the 11th and so on would not change no matter what I tried. Had to close and reopen the program to get it to work again.
4. The drawing and templates ALWAYS revert to A4 and millimeters when opened. Even my just saved templates will open 4 seconds later in A4 and Millimeters, when I JUST re-saved the template as letter and inches fractional. I know you guys are European, but give us Americans a break here, we're not going to go metric on our drawing that soon.
5. Opening Visio drawings saved as VDX (XML) are just OK, just not exactly as they were. This I believe ties into the same issue with save as .CDX files, I have found that sometimes a file I save as a CDX will reopen with pages out of order or stacked on top of each other. that is the content of page 9 will show up stacked on top of the items on page 5, and page 9 is blank or not there at all. This has happened on several occasions with several document both small and complex, so it doesn't seem to be tied to one stencil or type of drawing.
To be completely honest, I was looking to use CD as a way to do quick mark ups on floorplans and create technical drawings because Omnigraffle didn't seem to have the ability to create very technical drawings. But since these issues have been with the last three or four versions of CD (I've been around since CD5 almost two years ago) and seem to be getting worse, I'm thinking I may have to re-evaluate my thinking and just work in Vectorworks, not as easy, but it always works.
