I am able to export my pages from the Page Navigator via Portable document Format under the Export window. I can save this to a PDF file on a DVD. I can open the DVD and see all of my pages and move from linked page with out problems. However, all of my symbols in the origianal file,(before exporting),had notes attached and they did not make the transition in the exporting process. I can see and open the notes in the "original " page navigator's multiple pages but once exported I loose them. Do I have to re-link all my symbols to the notes in Page Navigator for this to work? Basically, I loose all of the notes attached to symbols when I export to a Portable Document Format. Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong? Thanks Goj

you didn't do anything wrong. It is just the way notes are used for...

Notes are normally for your on benefit. There you store information, you like to keep in mind, but would not like to share with other.

I know, if you export your MindMap as a html document, notes will be included as commentary (if you stay awhile on top of a topic, the text of the note will show), but they are easily removed! PowerPoint and PDF documents will not include your notes at all and most of the other export features will allow you to chose, whether you would like to include notes!

If you need to make a public note to a topic, I would suggest a call out!

Hope it helps!

HELLO GERHARD AND THANK YOU FOR THE REPLY,
I GUESS I USED THE WRONG FEATURE, I AM TRYING TO WRITE A TEXT BOOK AND EACH TOPIC WAS A CHAPTER OR SUBJECT. I WANTED THE READER TO HYPERLINK TO THE NOTES TO FIND OUT ABOUT THAT SUBJECT OR TOPIC. I THINK CALL OUT WOULD BE A LITTLE MESSY. GERHARD, IS THERE ANOTHER FEATURE THAT I CAN USE TO HYPERLINK TOPICS TO LARGE TEXT FILES? THANKS GEORGE

I think there is a some misrepresentation in the advertising by ConceptDraw in advertising the new EBOOK feature. If one clicks to the link How to create and Ebook on the ConceptDraw web site ,http://www.conceptdraw.com/en/products/mindmap/ap-ebook.php?utm_source=pressrelease&utm_medium=5.3&utm_campaign=MM, than one is shown an example of a periodic table with "notes" attached to symbols that are there not only for the author but also for the "reader" to understand the elements of the periodic table. At the bottom of the tutorial it states you can export to the PDF file.

quite true: the notes in that map contain valuable information, to understand the periodic table better, but will not be exported to a PDF! And I haven't found a hint in that article, that it should!!

See, I'm a just as much user of ConceptDraw MindMap, as you are. And if I wish to make a text block in my MindMap, I do so... like in this map:

If you wish to see, how it is done, download it:
Gardening.zip

And I only can tell you, that notes in my understanding, will help you to keep information about your map. In my understanding, they will not be put in PDF or PPT documents... and I personally remove the notes from all my HTML documents of MindMaps, I created :-)

Truly, I think "notes" in book format are like informative footnotes in a research paper. Necessary to the understanding and elaborating on the text, found on the same page or at the end of the chapter or book. So, "notes" in ConceptDraw Mindmap cannot be included in an ebook pdf format. That is very unfortunate since much content is lost but according to Gerhard there is a workaround. Are there any drawbacks to his workaround?

Dear Gerhard, Thank you for introducing me to the text block concept. Does the text block carry over into the PDF file? Also do you still have the gardening.zip in your folder? I can not find it on your ftp site. Thanks Goj

yes, the textblock will be visible in a pdf file! Since it is a normal subtopic to "St. John's wort"! I only removed the line arround the text... you may recognize the "-" at the end of "St. John's wort"!

And the zip file is still in the place cited, but try the download with:
Gardening.zip
