Why does altering the Duration in the Inspector change the Completion Date (as should be) but altering the Completion Date does not change the Duration? It would be very userful if these full interacted.

sorry, but I can't reconstruct your problem... on what OS you are running ConceptDraw Project and in witch version?

I change the duration and the completion date is changing with in. I can change the completion date and the duration is changing accordingly. Just to prove it, I'm trying the following:
Start date: 07. June 2007
Duration: 6 days
Finish: 14. June 2007

If I change the finisch date to 06. June 2007 the start date it changing to 30. May 2007.

I thing you run ether an older version or not on a mac.

Hi Gerhard

In you example the Duration is not changing, the operation has changed the start date instead. I think it more appropriate that if you leave the start date as is and change the completion date then the duration should change.
Hello Jim,

If you mean Inspector/General/Complete this determins the comletion of the task in %. For instance giving 50% completion will make your Gannt chart half green. And it means that 50% of the Task was completed.
Can you please confirm if I understood you right?
Natalie

I am afraid not. In the Inspector Window, I enter a Start Date and then a Duration the Completion Date is automatically changed. If I then change the Completion Date I would like to see that the Duration is automatically changed. At present the Duration remains the same and the Start Date is automatically changed; this does not seem logical to me when editing a programme.

could you please state your OS and the version of CD Project!

Mac OS vers 10.4.9 - ConceptDraw Project vers 3.3
Hi Jim,

thanks - so do I...

If you start a new task and you enter the start and end date, the duration will be set accordingly. If you alter the start date again, CD Project will take the duration as a fix value. I find this behaviour rather nice, because I normally arrange a duration and ones I have set it, I only want to change the start or the ending of the task, but hardly the duration. To change the duration, I would change the duration value instead...

The funny thing is: If you change the starting date and alter the duration afterward, the task will be added at the end. But if you change the ending date and alter the duration afterward, the task will be added at the beginning. I find this behaviour very helpful!

You will get used to the idea of the concept ConceptDraw Project is working with start and end date and the duration value. I for my part like the way, the inspector is working.
