I have bought mindmap 5.
While saving a mindmap I got a windows error. Application crashes.
Now, every time I try to open that mindmap I get a windows error.
What to do now?
I have also bought Mindmap 5 and I am having exactly the same crashes as you. I cant save my Mindmaps or open existing ones?
Please help?

Did you install your Mindmap on the default location (C:\program files) or on a different location?
I installed it on drive F:\active progs. In the registry I see strange entries (F?\active progs)!!
Or did you use links to files or map on other drives?
When I use relative paths a file on a other drive starts with ..\..\..\..?
I am not sure but the problem seems to be related corrupt paths!
I have installed the program, version 5.0.0.5, in the C:\program files folder. Today I uninstalled the program - then re-installed it. I am still having a problem.
The problem now seems to be with templates. I can open the templates and edit them, but as soon as I try to save them with a new file name the program crashes. If I restart the program and try to open my saved template the program also crashes. It seems to be a problem with templates.

Hi, I have installed the free trial demo version 5.0.0.5. And after a couple of hours of hard work I saved and it crashed just as you both described. I also have installed it in C:\program files. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but didn't work.
I also tried by modifying templates and saving with another name but for me it appears to work fine. (no problem with that!)
We are trying to solve this problem. In the new updated release everything should work well.
This update is planned on the next week.
Well, I must admid I experienced frequent crashes too but was not prepared for what happened next.
I had been working hard on a very, very large multimap (about 5Mb) and noticed the Topic links were always becoming lost.
So I decided to copy and past one mindmap out and try to link on a file to file basis.
Crashed again and unfortunately the main mindmap was lost - I now have a zero length file. Have run "Recuva" to see if it can spot it but no joy.
Anyone got any suggestions for somehow recovering what looks to be an unrecoverable (at least with the software I have installed on my PC) file?
I'm normally pretty good with backups but wouldn't you know it, there's none of this one (sods law).
There appears to be no temporary files either which could be potentially recovered (feature request perhaps...).
Hope someone sage out there has a suggestion, otherwise it has been one hell of a learning experience!
Tom
Hello Tob.
Please send me the map that you cannot open.
BTW, version 5.0.1 is already released and you can download it here:
http://conceptdraw.fileburst.com/Full/CD...ap5Pro.zip
Note that before installing the new version it is preferably to delete the previous one.
